Your one stop Partner in software optimizations - Cybinity
Background A leading enterprise approached us with an abstract challenge "Our application is showing signs of exhaustion during peak hours and some performance issues inconsistently ".
Reality One of our clients, had already migrated to a microservices-based cloud platform. They began to experience growing pains. Despite a modern setup, they were facing slow response times, inconsistent performance during peak events and rising costs. We partnered with them to optimize their microservices platform, delivering faster performance, smoother scaling, and significant cost savings—all while improving the shopping experience for their customers.
The Client's Ask "Need to make the application more performant."
The Problems that need to be addressed Complicated Dependencies: Some services had hidden interdependencies, if one slowed down it affected others. Spiky Cloud Costs: Autoscaling was reactive and not proactive, resources were over-provisioned at times and under-provisioned at others. Inefficient Caching: Customers often hit the database for repeated queries, slowing down page loads. Unpredictable Performance: Some services (like product search) slowed down under heavy traffic.
Cybinity's Optimizations After hearing the pain points from customer, we started analyzing the possible causes and made these optimizations.
Predictive Autoscaling Autoscaling was reactive, spinning up instances only after high load was detected. Customers experienced lag. We implemented predictive autoscaling based on historical traffic patterns and business campaigns. As a result of this, services scaled before traffic spikes, maintaining smooth experience for users during flash sales.
Polyglot Persistent Model Avoid overloading the database. Services used specialized databases based on the business they deal with: Relational DB for orders (transaction integrity). Elasticsearch for product search (speed). Graph DB for recommendation engine. Document DB for storing user profile. Redis for caching (performance).
Better user experience Used 'Global CDN' for product images and content. This reduced the page load times drastically during peak hours and led to a better user experience. Throttling was added to the heavily consumed services, which ensured fair access for all the users and prevented any single client from monopolizing resources.
Asynchronous Processing with Message Queues Tasks like order confirmation emails and inventory updates were moved to the message queues. This reduced checkout latency significantly, since customers didn’t wait for background processes to complete.
End-to-End Monitoring & Observability Introduced distributed tracing to quickly identify bottlenecks as precisely as, for a particular user and a specific request from the user. This reduced mean time to resolve (MTTR) issues by 60%.
Service Isolation & Resilience Circuit breakers and retries were added so that one failing service wouldn’t impact others.
Performance Impact after these optimizations: 50% faster checkout times during peak load. 50% faster product page loads thanks to caching and CDN. 3x more traffic handled (without increasing the infrastructure) during sale and festivals. Near-zero downtime resulting in improved customer trust.
Business Impact: Cybinity's optimizations translated the e-commerce application into faster performant and frustration free customers. Higher revenue - Faster checkouts and stable performance reduced cart abandonment and boosted conversion rates. Reduced costs - Smarter cloud scaling and caching cut operating costs significantly. Faster innovation - New promotions, features and improvements go live in days instead of weeks. Improved loyalty - Customers enjoy a reliable, fast and frustration-free shopping experience.
At Cybinity, by applying performance tuning, smarter scaling, caching and resilience strategies, we helped our client transform their platform into a high-performance engine for growth. The result was happier customers, higher sales and a platform that grows with the future.
